PADSHE Project and current work
PADSHE - 'Personal and Academic Records for Students in Higher Education. Led by the University of Nottingham, it focuses on the need to remake personal tutoring after modularisation, within a Higher Education culture in which both research and teaching are assessed. It is also exploring appropriate uses of Communications and Information Technology (Internet PARS)
SHELL Project - Building Managed Learning Environments across HE and FE
The SHELL Project arose from the converging themes of lifelong learning and learner accessibility, at a time characterised by rapid growth in the use of Virtual and Managed Learning Environments. Through a well established partnership (1989), the University of Plymouth and its associated colleges offer a firm foundation for the development of links to support learners as they move between further and higher education institutions. The SHELL Project aims to develop the integration of technologies across a consortium involving the University and partner colleges. In particular, the SHELL project will address the increased business need to have a single registration/information up-load for students who move between FE and HE in the region through a student-centred record (SCR).

Foundation Direct
Foundation Direct is a HEFCE funded Centre of Excellence that builds on the University of Portsmouth's excellent and innovatory practice developed in student support, the careers service and work-based learning. The University of Portsmouth is a major provider of foundation degrees within the South East region and Foundation Direct will support the University’s growing number of foundation degree students.
